Although space is a virtual vacuum, there is sound in space. Charged electromagnetic particles called Ions interact and resonate between the solar wind and the ionosphere of the planets and moons and rings of our solar system – exactly in the range of human hearing (20 Hz-20,000 Hz).
Specially designed instruments placed on board Voyager I & II called “Plasma Wave Antennas” were designed specifically to record these “Sounds from Space”. These instruments picked up these electromagnetic vibrations from Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune plus various moons and ring structures and sent them back to Earth as recordings. These recordings represent “Soundscapes” of frequencies of the plasma energy field “ocean” of vibrations around the planets. Each planet, moon and ring system has its own distinctive and unique mind-bending sound pattern. The sounds are hauntingly familiar in parts: electronic wind, ocean, dolphins, whales, breathy choirs, Tibetan Bowl-like sounds, birds and crickets….from space.
These decoded sound files from space can be heard when played through a regular speaker system or headphones…the actual “Music of the Spheres” for real. These beautiful and mysterious recordings touch some deep recognition in the unconscious mind that is difficult to describe. These recordings are useful for stress reduction and have been used for expanding higher and deeper states of meditation. There are 11 titles in the NASA Space Sounds Series.
SATURN’S RINGS
Saturn is a giant gas planet made of mostly hydrogen and helium and has no solid surface like Earth does. Saturn has the most spectacular rings in the solar system: seven rings with various gaps and divisions between them. The rings are made of countless small particles, ranging in size from micrometers to meters…dust to boulders all of frozen ice mixed with rocky material. You could say that Saturn is an “inside-out” planet: All its solid material is in the rings on the outside and its gassy atmosphere is on the inside. Saturn has 53 moons with 29 more waiting to be added officially: total 82 moons.
The Sounds from Saturn are deep and strong and powerfully grounding….similar in a way to the recordings from Saturn itself, but more low frequency sounds and even more powerfully grounding.
